The Most Beautiful Woman in the World

Wow, Ebert says it's Aishwarya Rai. I don't see it. I think Michelle Pheifer in her glory days was more beautiful, and then there's the woman I most wanted to look like (when I wasted my time wishing I looked like someone else:) that French Victoria's Secret model Laetitia Casta.

Aishwarya has that classic, grown-up, generic mom beauty of Elizabeth Taylor and Catherine Zeta-Jones. (Catherine Z. is quite a stunningly classical beauty, I have to admit.) Laititia Casta has bow lips, like babies do. I'm a sucker for bow lips, probably due to genetically encoded mom instincts in me.

Ironically I started looking on the web today for the greatest American feminists. oops.

Braidwood,

You have fine taste in the women. I would add Heidi Klum to the mix. I saw her on that "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" show and she was as sweet as she was beautiful. She would not stop smiling no matter how many questions she missed! She'll forever have a place in my heart :)

I really have a hard time making decisions like this. Hmmm... I think I'll write a blog entry about it... You got me thinking today. Thanks!

I'm glad it made you think! I basically based my opinion on who I would most want to look like. I just noticed that I don't have any women of ethnicities besides Caucasian, which, besides being politically incorrect, is probably really inaccurate. (Is Indian Caucasian?) When I was young I asked my mom who she thought was the most beautiful woman in the world and she said, "I don't know, but she is probably a mix of races."

My roommate asked one day, "what star would you look like if you could look like any?" My first reaction (modern girl that I am) was that I'd rather not change, thank you. I mean, what I look like is part of my identity. Who wants to lose that?

But it was interesting to see the results of the apartment poll. My blonde, outdoorsy roommate chose Faith Hill, the question-asking roommate (an auburn-haired introvert) chose Natalie Portman, and I chose ...Catherine Zeta Jones. The parallels were inescapable. We all chose someone who had a similar "look and feel" to our own dear selves.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Aishwarya Rai has the classic, noble beauty that some men (including me) are most attracted to. Yes, Michele Pfeiffer was soooo beautiful when she starred with Rutger Hauer in that medieval film (i forget the title). Some people would find Courtney Love a knockout - who are we to judge?
